A Meaningful Month

Hei all!

I just realized that it's been a long long time since my last post in this blog (as if i had another one)
So since I have nothing to do while I'm waiting for my dinner, I decided to update my blog on my exciting experiences that happened this past month. :D

1. I turned 17, 13 days ago !
well that's exciting since 17 is the legal age in Indonesia (my home country) although not the legal age here (Singapore).
I feel so old.....
They came to my birthday after all ! :D
Ok nvm, the point is, I had a great birthday this year unlike my birthday last year (I will remember that day forever - It was my second day in Singapore LOL)
For my birthday celebration, my mom came here since the 5th of November coincides with Deepavali holiday in Singapore (public Holiday - Indian Celebration)
I invited a few close friends to join me and my family for dinner on that day however almost all of them said that they couldn't come.
One said that he had to extend his stay in Jakarta for work, the other said he had to go to his office that night and another said she had to study for her arts O level exam !
At first I didn't suspect anything but things got fishy and fishier as the day pass, so I started investigating :D
and I found out that my mom asked them to pretend to be unable to come when actually they can come ! So everything was uncovered even before they came into the restaurant and surprised me HAHA

Group photo after dinner - I was very paranoid, scared they would throw me
into the water fountain near there aft the pic was taken LOL :D

2. I am now officially a senior ! :D
My juniors (the Indonesian ASEAN scholar Batch 20) came on the 11th and I was lucky enough to be excused from my maths lesson on that day to pick them up in the airport! :D
That day I met a lot of Indonesian ASEAN seniors and batch-mates and since I rarely (never) go to the events organized for all of us to meet, I don't know most (maybe 90%) of them LOL
It was an enjoyable but tiring day. We got a free ride back to our hostel from Chang-I and because of the hostel's inconvenient location, the bus ride took 3 hours - they sent back those scholars whose hostels are nearer to chang-I

3. This year's report book has been given out and the school year has ended, so now it is holiday time ! (although there's no such thing as a holiday here LOL)
I thank Him for His blessings this past year and only because of Him that I can get those awesome results :D
Although I still have to go to school occasionally for choir, I can wake up late and sleep late now! :D
I am, unfortunately, one of the scholars here to go back the last.
All my other friends went back either last week or latest, this week.
However I have to stay in this fine city, Singapore because of the school's choir concert held on the first week of December !
Even though I have to sacrifice my precious time in Indo, I think that staying back for a while isn't that bad because I can get more CCA points. So yeah nvm.

I think that's all for this post, I'll try to update my blog (again) soon. Now I have to start packing up all my mess in my room that's starting to get out of control D:
So, stay blessed readers!

Time Management

Hei all,
It's been quite a while since my last post
and since I came back from school early today,
(Next week is the start of my school's year end exam,
so last Friday was my last day of CCA for this month :D)
I decided to post something on my blog :D

Right now, schools in Singapore are in the fourth term of their academic year
this means that year end exams and O levels are coming.
Time flies past us so swiftly that before we even realize it,
we're going to the next chapter of our life,
whether it's graduating from secondary school or just moving on to the following grade in school.
When you think back, aren't you amazed at the fact that time does fly?
Memories of events in the past felt like they just happened yesterday.

But so what if time does fly?
To me, it simply means that we need to appreciate it
by using and planing our time properly.
All of us know that there is always an end to something,
our time is limited and a man's success is determined by how well
he could manage time and achieve the best out of it.
Time is not something that we can compromise with.

Managing time may not be the easiest thing to do
yet it is still doable.
I often hear many of my schoolmates complaining to the teacher
that they do not have the time to do all assignments and tasks they were given.
There may be many reasons to it, like : "you gave the homework to us last minute"
"We have a lot of homework for today" and "There are just too many things to do and too many tests"
My question is : How exactly did you manage your time.

I learned from my experiences that when you plan your time wisely, prioritize and
stick with your plan everything could be done.
Look at your aims and what you want to achieve to plan your time.
Things that could be postponed should come after things that need to be urgently done
and things that is something you MUST do come before leisure.
This may seem simple but sometimes I feel tempted to do things for my leisure first
and then do the important things.
When you do things that are more important first, the burden and pressure will
be released from you, enabling you to do the next task with ease.
You would also feel glad that you had use your time fruitfully when you sow
your results afterwards.
In conclusion, all of us need to learn to manage our time to succeed and learning comes from practicing
and experiences in the past :) Goodluck for all those having their exams and GBU :)

What do You want?

Well this is an update of my blog post titled : What will I do in the future?

Yesterday I spent some of my time to talk with my friend
who is leaving for America, under a scholarship, next week.
I was told that he got the scholarship by emailing the schools in US
Asking whether they offer any scholarship for international students
and after going through tests and an interview, he got it.

I felt inspired because similar him, I want to study in Canada
So after going back to my room
i googled for a list of high schools in Canada and managed to get names of a few schools

I started emailing them and asking about the scholarship they offer and
how to enroll for my 11th year.
This morning I checked my email and amazingly
one school was really fast and replied that they would be glad to accept a new student
anytime of this year or next year.

I am confused (again) to what should I do.
Studying in Singapore is a privilege but since I want to continue
my university in Canada,
it would be cheaper if I move there now and apply for a PR so when I
enter the University, I could get much cheaper tuition fees
even though for high school I may have to pay
not forgetting the penalty I may also have to pay for breaking my Scholarship bond..

On the other hand, if I don't go now
I will not break my scholarship's contract, no need to pay the
penalty, but may need to pay much more if I enter
the university there as I will be counted as an International student.
The tuition grants for university will only help me for at most $5000
while the whole fee is almost $30,000

In conclusion, I'm confused..
What should I do?
What do God want in my life?
What do my parents think?

Then this verse came up

25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

(Matthew 6:25-27 - New International Version)
It says : Don't worry about your life.
It illustrates that even a bird that does no work has a future full of hope
where God provides everything.
This teaches me to stop worrying of my future because I know it's in God's hands
and everything in His hands will
really be in His hands
Its just up to us to believe that He will provide the best for us
at His best time.
Yet still we need to remember that we also need to do our parts, give our all
(refer to my post "Happy Birthday Indonesia")

God Bless

Happy Birthday Indonesia

Zechariah 8:11-12
12Seeds will thrive in peacetime.
Vines will produce their grapes.
The land will yield its crops.
The sky will produce its dew.
I will give the few remaining people
all these things as an inheritance.
13Just as you, people of Judah and people of Israel,
have been a curse among the nations,
so I will now save you,
and you will become a blessing.
Don’t be afraid. Let your hands work hard.
(God's Word Translation)

It was an interesting day today,
as it was the first time I celebrated my nation's national day
in another country, Singapore.

I woke up quite early and rushed to the Indonesian Embassy this morning because the flag ceremony starts at 9.30am.

I was glad to meet my other Indonesian scholar friends there
as I hadn't seen them since even-myself-don't-know-when.
It just feels awesome when all the indonesians come together
to the embassy to celebrate our national day
though we are not in Indonesia.
I Believe it was the pride we felt about our nation that gathered all of us
there this morning.

Even though the weather was really hot,
it was a happy occasion when we saw our flag rose high and not some other country's flag :D
It makes me, and maybe all of the others, feel back home again

anyways, after reading a post in facebook, I decided to write about it : Zechariah 8:11-12
It's about God's promise for a nation, "What the Lord will do for Zion"
It is an amazing promise made by God who never breaks His promise
but as I read it again, I notice this part "Let your hands work hard",

it shows that even though God made a promise that He would never brake,
there are still terms-and-conditions :
He still needs us to do our part.
We can't just ask God to do His part while we ourselves do nothing.

We need to change ourselves first, do our best
to change our country and then expect God to do the things that aren't in our control.

I myself need to learn to work harder and build up my country Indonesia for a better place
I do hope our country could improve,
free of corruption, pollution, crime, drugs, etc.
Don't you, other Indonesians whoever is reading this,
want your country to be like that too?
Someone needs to start first, right? Let's start from ourselves :)

Last but not least, I wish Indonesia a very happy 65th birthday!

What will I do in the future?

So..
Here I am , again , finally after a few months not opening my blog..
Let me see, where to start..

I am now in one of my friend's house, doing nothing,
trying to think of something to do
and when someone mentioned my blog,
i decided to update it..

These past few days, or rather, weeks, I've been thinking of my future
Where should I go to? What should I do?
Which university will suit me the best?
Some universities like UBC and UCLA came to my mind,
but again, the question is, which course would I want to take?
Should I take something common and cool (i think), like finance, and become a business women,
or take something that people rarely takes, offering a wider opportunity to get a better job, like say, engineering?

Well some may say that it depends on your talent and interest.
But then another question came : What DO I really like?
Honestly I don't really know the answer to that question.
I do well in school, but none of the subjects that I take sparks my interest.
None of it makes me passionate enough to say : WOW its now *blablabla* time!
I do OK in most of my subjects, but again, none of them are of my interest.

I often take tests online to try to find out more about my interest, but yeah funny things appears like
"You would make a perfect model" *the result of some quiz online that I took just now*

I just hope one day, soon, God will show His plan for my life so at least I won't be so Blur anymore.
Last but not least, any suggestions ? :)

Thanks for taking time to read some stupid blog of mine,
Jennifer.

Term 3 Week 3

Well, basically it has been a month now from the day I went back to Surabaya
and it has been 3 weeks after I arrived back in this "fine" city.
For this past 3 weeks, a lot of things happened
one of the key events is my O Level Malay Oral.
After the holiday, we practiced a lot to ace our oral exam on last Monday
and I do hope to ace :D

another important event happened on the first Sunday after school reopened
which is MDC Singapore's Pastor wedding thanksgiving dinner
at Jurong Country Club. I sang 2 songs, "Kita Satu" and "At the Beginning" :D
A few of my Indonesian friends attended the dinner and I was happy to meet them here :)
We went out together to Marina Barrage and took loads of pictures :D

Another event that I went through was the National Day Parade 2010 Preview
All the scholars had to gather at City hall last Saturday to go for the show.
All though I thought i would be a waste of time at the beginning,
after i watched the show, I was happy because
the show was so pretty (all the colorful lights, etc)
and it was nice to see those kind of shows once in a while

hmm let me see..
Oh yeah, another thing that happened was me falling sick on the third day of school
I had to take MC because of my high fever
and it felt good to not go to school that day :)

Next week will be my Malay Listening O Level test
and since we practiced twice alr in school
I hope to achieve my best :)

26 May 2010

I love you, Dad :)

Today is the 26th of May 2010,
and it's my dad's birthday :)
So I'm dedicating this post to my dad :)

About one hour ago,
I finished reading the book I had been reading for this past 2 weeks,
"the Last Song"
It tells a story about a young girl,
who hates her father because he left their family
and had not talk to him for 3 years.
On the third year, her mom forced her and her younger brother
to spend their summer with their dad.

The girl rebelled, but she had no choice but to follow her mother's will, reluctantly.
She made friends with "bad" teenagers there
and caught herself in trouble.
Her father, however, faced her rebellious acts patiently,
he trusted her, loved her more than life itself,
he was always there for her.

Slowly, the girl changed as she felt true love there,
she spent more time with her father each day.
When summer is about to come to an end,
she found out that her dad suffers from stomach cancer
and only has a few months to live.

She regretted that she had been very mean and unfair to her dad
she felt proud to gave a dad like him who was caring and loving,
who had Holy Spirit guiding him.
She decided not to go back to NY,
instead, she stayed there and took care of her dad
until he finally passed away.

I am very touched with this story, I cried in so many parts of the book.
I learned one lesson :
When there is still time,
show your love to your Dad and Mom
I reflected back to my own life,
maybe I had not been a good daughter for my parents,
but now I'm gonna try to change it
I want to make my dad and mom proud and happy

I truly love you, dad.
Happy Birthday
have a safe trip back from Guang Zhou,
I miss you and Mom,
See you soon
Lots of Love from your daughter

When my life turns upside down

Here I am back to opening my blog
after 3 months never posting anything
haha
Well...
the reason is, I could never find a right time
to update my blog..

So. anyways,
just now as i was in sitting in geography class,
i felt bored..
I opened my journal and decided to write
whatever was on my mind at that moment
and this was what i wrote :

"Love without you is just a word
no one to share it with
no one to feel it's beauty with
and definitely no one to make realize it's existence in earth
It's just nothing without you beside me..

Walking on this path alone
wondering why did it happened
It took away what I enjoyed most here,
being with you,
talking to you
or even just simply sitting there next to you without a single word spoken
I don't know how to bear it any more.

Now being here alone,
I wonder what are you doing,
wondering if I could just turn back time and be with you..."

Yeah. melancholic me.
I wrote that because I was frustrated.
I had a bad morning today and I don't
know who i could share it with.
So here I am sharing it to whoever is reading it.

Actually the main problem is not that I am sad because i lost him
it is because i feel lonely here..
and it appears that he's the only one who is, but now was, there for me
in all times..

Even in School, I do not have much friends.
most of them just don't understand me.
well i couldn't blame them for that..
we have different back grounds..

In the end I just hope that I could find that special someone :)

Bless you all readers. :)
